About Rodney & Colleen

About Rodney Yee

Rodney Yee first began studying yoga about 26 years ago while dancing with the Oakland Ballet and studying physical therapy. When he was with the Matsuyama Ballet Company of Tokyo, Rodney continued taking yoga classes. By the time he returned to the U.S. in 1983, Rodney was committed to sharing his knowledge. He began teaching at The Yoga Room in Berkeley, Calif., and later opened Piedmont Yoga Studio in Oakland, Calif. He has studied yoga in India with B.K.S. Iyengar, and philosophy at the University of California at Berkeley. Although he has studied extensively in the Iyengar tradition, he relies strongly on his own practice, intuition, philosophy and spirituality to influence his teaching.

About Colleen Saidman

Colleen's introduction to yoga was at the urging of a roommate who convinced her to attend a class at a loft space in New York City over 20 years ago. It was not long after that first class, that her wornout running shoes, her basketball and her boxing gloves became relics of the past. And in 1994, after enduring back surgery, Colleen's commitment to her yoga practice deepened.

People are saying...

"In my town, I haven't found yoga classes that run with any real regularity or that fit around my schedule of teaching, going to graduate school, and raising my children. Being able to work at my own pace using the tools available at the Gaiam Yoga Club online, I feel that I have finally discovered the broad community of yoga practitioners that I have been hoping to find."

Kenneth, Newnan, GA

"Rodney Yee, with his trademark ponytail and mega-watt smile, has long been one of the most recognizable and widely respected yogis in America. He is a highly intuitive teacher who brings a unique perspective to the power of yoga both on the mat and off. His unbridled passion, deep knowledge, and abiding love for this practice has enriched and guided the lives of thousands of students."

Linda Sparrowe, Former Editor in Chief of Natural Solutions and Former Managing Editor of Yoga Journal

"This is a great online yoga program. I recommend it to anyone and all levels of experience. There's something peaceful about doing Yoga in the comfort of your own home. Not to mention, it's a great time saver because you don't have to drive to the local studio or gym (It's cold here this time of year)!"

"I've seen a good number of yoga DVDs. Thi online yoga club is up there with the best ones for beginners. Each week's material is divided up into 10-12 segments that can be viewed independently. Yee and Saidman take turns demoing the poses and vinyasas. They provide a huge volume of insight and tips into the poses."
